The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the University complies with the Queensland Health (Drugs and Poisons) Regulation 1996 with regards to purchasing, using and storing scheduled drugs and poisons.

3. Policy Scope/Coverage

This policy applies to all staff and students who are purchasing, using and storing scheduled drugs and poisons.

4. Policy Statement

The University of Queensland will ensure that scheduled drugs and poisons are obtained, issued, used and stored in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation.

The University has established Drugs and Poison Officer positions in various schools, centres and institutes to ensure that the relevant legislative requirements are being complied with.
