1.  Purpose and Objectives

This guideline aims to describe the charging schedule relating to the hosting of course content and the use of  central eLearning systems.

2.  Definitions, Terms, Acronyms

Blackboard - The central eLearning course management system hosted and maintained by ITS at the University of QLD.

Community Site - An individual community site on the Blackboard system.

Course content - Any content within individual Blackboard sites.

Course Site - An individual Blackboard course site.

3.  Guidelines Scope/Coverage

This guideline covers the charging model related to Blackboard. This applies to all organisational units at The University of Queensland.

4.  Guidelines Statement

4.1 Course sites

No charge will be levied on faculties, schools or other organisational units for:

  • UQ courses that are available as part of an approved UQ award program;

  • Staff development courses for UQ staff; or

  • UQ enrolled student development programs.

These costs will be covered under a central funding agreement with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor  (Academic).

4.2  Community sites

No charge for hosting Community Sites will be levied on the faculties, schools or other organisational units.

These costs will be covered under a central funding agreement with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

4.3 Other courses

Creation and hosting of other course sites may incur a fee levied by ITS. This will depend on any additional cost incurred by ITS in maintenance and support requirements.
